PHILANTHROPY

Monarch School

Our chapters philanthropy is the Monarch School, a vital resource for unhoused and underserved youth in San Diego. Through our philanthropy, Upsilon Kappa Delta has launched numerous initiatives to uplift and empower this community. These efforts include hosting costume and in-kind donation drives to directly benefit Monarch School students. Additionally, we created the Upsilon Kappa Delta Multicultural Sorority Inc. Scholarship for Academic Excellence & Community Impact, which awards $300 scholarships to underserved high school students in San Diego, recognizing both academic achievement and dedication to community service.

Company Overview
Monarch School and its committed team of teachers, support staff and volunteers are dedicated to helping unhoused children by providing an accredited education while caring for their basic needs. Today, more than 300 students kids between the ages of 4 and 19 are enrolled at Monarch School. In addition, they serve approximately 167 families and 91 alumni.

Upsilon Kappa Delta's Involvement
Upsilon Kappa Delta hosts a philanthropy week in which we dedicate a series of events to raise awareness to the Monarch School Program while simultaneously raising money for them. During this week we host our annual Opportunity Drawing Auction, where we raffle off themed baskets created by our newest members. We also raise money for journals for the butterfly boutique by hosting different raffles throughout the week and during our Cards for Kids event on campus. ΥΚΔ is also dedicated to participating in hands on work within the program by cooking dinner for the students and their extended families.
